I have two Kenmore Refrigerators that need help. The one in the garage is not cooling, or freezing...but is is blowing out air. The one in the house, the water dispenser slowly has stopped. I replaced the filter and the water is dispensing again, but VERY slowly. Any suggestions? Is there a Fee for just coming out to look at both refrigerators?

My Kenmore, electric dryer, purchased in about 2005, does not heat. We have checked the outlets, the fuses, and the lint traps and still nothing. I have two teenage athletes in my house and need my dryer to work.

It's not recommended that you attempt refrigerator repairs on your own. Most refrigerator repairs tend to involve complicated procedures that are left best to professionals. However, if you are very confident about your DIY repair skills, you can attempt some basic repairs. Make sure that you cut off all power supply to the refrigerator before attempting any repairs. Failure to do so can result in injuries that can be fatal. If your refrigerator refuses to run, confirm that it has stopped by checking the light inside, or the sound coming from the motor or fan. Make sure that the refrigerator is receiving power. You can check by plugging a lamp into the refrigerator's power outlet.
If the refrigerator isn't cooling, check to see if it has completely stopped, and if it has not, make sure that the thermostat is turned to the right setting. If not, reset the thermostat now. Cooling problems can also occur because of problems with the compressor motor, which is located on the outside near the bottom of the refrigerator. If the compressor continues to hum, the problem may be linked to something else, and a qualified refrigerator technician must be called. Poor cooling can also occur because of heavy accumulation of frost on the evaporator coils. The refrigerator has a self defrosting mechanism, and if there are problems in the system, the appliance will continue its cooling function. This can cause frost build up on the evaporator coil. To check if this is the problem, remove perishables from the refrigerator, turn the thermostat knob to the off position, and leave the refrigerator doors open for about 24 hours, allowing defrosting to take place. When all the frost has been melted, turn the knob back to your normal setting.
For a refrigerator that cools poorly, the cause could be frost accumulation on the evaporator coils. Improper cooling can also be the result of dust accumulation on the condenser coils. A leaky refrigerator occurs when the fridge is not sealed properly, and is therefore running excessively. Check the rubber gaskets to make sure they are sealed properly and if they are not, wash the gaskets with soapy warm water, and apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly. If this doesn't help, the gaskets may have to be replaced. We help Jacksonville residents get in touch with refrigerator repair services in town.
