The dishwasher (Whirlpool) will not stay running. I push the door in and it starts to run, but then stops... I suspect it is the locking mechanism - needs to be adjusted or replaced. Thanks

Just found my 4 yr. old, Maytag 26.0 cu side by side refrigerator has shut down and isn’t chilling! What is your schedule for Saturday or first available appliance repair service?

Before attempting any dishwasher repairs, make sure that you disconnect the appliance from the power source. Also, take care to avoid injury from the sharp edges of the appliance. If your dishwasher refuses to work, make sure that it is receiving power from a power supply. Look for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. The cause could also be a defective door switch. This will have to be replaced. There could also be a problem with the wires, not just the main wiring, but also the wiring to the timer, and the door switch. A faulty timer may also cause the machine to not work at all. Timers will have to be replaced if they are defective.
If your dishwasher fails to turn on, first check if the machine is receiving power. This can be hard because these appliances tend to be wired into an electrical circuit, and not plugged into a wall. However, you can look for a blown fuse that's disrupted power supply to the machine. A defective door switch can also prevent the dishwasher from turning on. You may have to remove the interior liner of the door, and the control panel covers to locate the door switch. If defective, replace it. Also, make sure that there has been no burning or breaking of the wiring. Check not only the main wiring, but also the wiring connected to the liner, the door switch as well as the wiring located between the lower half of the machine and the door. If you have electric repair skills, you can repair burned or broken wires, using connectors and appliance grade wires.
A noisy dishwasher can be repaired by replacing an old water inlet valve, worn out motor bearings or heater fan bearings. Noise can also occur because food debris gets stuck in the pump. If you have trouble closing the dishwasher door, then dishwasher repairs will include checking for broken springs or bent hinges, and replacing these. For optimum cleaning, make sure that you use water heated up to 120 degrees F for your water cycle. We can help you find Jacksonville dishwasher repair services.
